Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat (2025) explodes onto the screen as a fiery action-packed entertainer that revives the rugged spirit of 90s Bollywood hits. Sunny Deol steps into the formidable shoes of Brigadier Baldev Pratap Singh, while Randeep Hooda plays the menacing antagonist Ranatunga with a chilling edge. Set in the turbulent town of Motupalli, Andhra Pradesh, the film follows a mysterious warrior named Jaat who takes on a vicious criminal empire to restore order.

Sunny Deol owns every frame with his trademark intensity and powerful dialogue delivery, especially evoking nostalgia with his legendary “dhai kilo ka haath” moment—calling back to his iconic roles in Border and Arjun. Randeep Hooda impresses as a sly ex-refugee-turned-mafia boss, though his character loses steam after the midpoint. Supporting actors Vineet Kumar Singh and Regina Cassandra put in dependable work, but Saiyami Kher’s underwritten police role barely leaves a mark.

Malineni delivers a visual and emotional blend of South Indian action flair and North Indian macho energy, driven by Thaman S’s electrifying music and breathtaking stunts designed by Anal Arasu and Peter Hein. Despite its visceral punch, the movie suffers from predictable plotting and occasionally uninspired writing, relying heavily on Deol’s old-school magnetism to power through its 153-minute runtime. The relentless action might feel excessive to some, and the narrative doesn’t stray far from familiar tropes.

Still, for die-hard Sunny Deol fans and lovers of high-octane cinema, Jaat delivers a satisfying throwback filled with whistle-worthy moments. It may not reinvent the wheel, but its sheer adrenaline and star power make it an entertaining one-time watch.
